Solas of the Reformation
The solas (Latin for “alone”) are five declarations that summarize what the Protestant Reformers recovered in the sixteenth century: Scripture alone is our final authority, Christ alone is our Savior, grace alone is the cause of our salvation, faith alone is the instrument by which we receive it, and to God alone be the glory. These are not merely historical slogans — they remain the dividing line between the biblical gospel and every system that adds human merit to the work of Christ. This study walks through each sola in turn, tracing its biblical basis, its historical recovery, and its practical implications for the life of the believer today.
